SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — At Monday’s Sioux City council meeting, former fire chief Tom Everett officially pinned his replacement Ryan Collins.

Collins, who spent his career serving Sioux City, says he will continue to do the same as the new leader of Sioux City Fire Rescue. Collins’ family was in the crowd, along with many first responders, to show their support for the new chief.

“There’s a flood of emotions right now,” Collins said. “This is not a position that I never saw myself being in. And so it’s a lot different now that you have 145 plus personnel looking up to you.”

“Well, he’s got big shoes to fill, but he’s up to the task, so he’ll do just fine,” mayor Bob Scott said.

Tom Everett served 31 years with the department.
