WAYNE, Neb. (KCAU) – Even after winning 30 or more matches the last two seasons and claiming the last two NSIC Regular Season titles, Wayne State is looking for more heading into 2024.

Tabbed as the NSIC Preseason favorite and fourth in the nation, Wayne State finished its 2023 campaign in the NCAA Elite 8 for just the second time in program history after winning the NCAA Central Region title.

Bringing back a strong foundation anchored by sixth-year players in 3x All-NSIC First Team selections Maggie Brahmer and Taya Beller is a boost for head coach Scott Kneifl and company, not only as players but leaders as well.

“It’s really everything. I think having that leadership on the floor for us during practice, on the sideline, or wherever it may be is huge for us. Teaching the younger girls the way that we do things both on and off the court is huge.” Wayne State head coach Scott Kneifl said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how our group meshes together. We have a lot of new girls, like I said. We do still have a lot of people who have been here for a while, but seeing how everyone intermixes together and how we progress throughout the season.” Wayne State middlet hitter Taya Beller added.

Wayne State begins the season September 5th against Adelphi at the Eckerd College tournament.
