IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Iowa Hawkeyes announced the addition of Tyler Cropley and Wes Obermueller to its baseball coaching staff.

Cropley, who will join the program as a student assistant, returns to his alma mater to coach under Rick Heller.

The former Bishop Heelan product ended his senior year with a .342 batting average to go along with 20 doubles, nine home runs, 50 RBIs, and 43 runs. His stat line propelled him to second-team All-American honors while he became the first Iowa catcher drafted in the first eight rounds since 1972 after being selected with the 251st overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft by Washington.

Cropley made his MLB debut on August 19, 2023 for the Kansas City Royals.
