    Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center receives $5K grant from state

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center has received $5,000 from the state of Iowa to “advance arts and culture.”

    The center announced Wednesday that it is the recipient of a FY 2025 Cultural Capacity Building Grant. The award was given out by the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

    “The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is honored to receive this funding,” executive director Traci Bennett said in a statement. “Our staff strives diligently [to] provide diverse cultural programs and innovative children’s programs.”

    The center said it plans to spend the money on advertising.

    The IEDA awarded 173 awards of a total of nearly $1.7 million in arts and culture grants all over the state.

    Other Siouxland groups receiving grants were the Orange City Arts Council to host Kuniko Yamamoto who will share Japanese art and culture, storytelling, origami and music with local students and the public.

    In Sioux City, the Flux Dance Company, Crittenton Center, Sioux City International Film Festival also received grants for specific projects.

    The Emmetsburg Main Street Community Theatre and Le Mars Arts Center received operating grants, just like the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Art Center Association of Sioux City, Sioux City Public Museum, and Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.
