NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — The Norfolk Fire Division invites the community to honor the memory of those lost by participating in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

The Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Wednesday, Sep. 11 at the Veterans Memorial Field. The gates will open at 6 p.m. followed by a 9/11 tribute presentation to kick off the stair climb.

Fire Chief Tim Wragge said this event started as a small group of Norfolk Fire Reserve Firefighters doing the stair climb each year at our training tower in memory of those lost on 9/11. It has since grown into something larger every year.

“Our team made a commitment last year to expand this into a community event to honor those lost at Ground Zero, as well as responders who have died over the years, both in the line of duty and otherwise,” Wragge adds. “We hope to make this an event the community looks forward to each year, and we are grateful to the City of Norfolk Parks and Recreation team for their help in making it happen.”
