SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Construction contractor Knife River will be holding a public meeting next week on proposed industrial plans in a primarily residential area in Sioux City.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sep. 4 at 6 p.m. at North Middle School at 2101 Outer Drive. It concerns proposed development plans for a site at 3700 Jefferson Street.

Knife River is proposing that their current facilities be moved to the more spacious 3700 Jefferson Street site. This would require rezoning the site from General Commercial to General Industrial.

The facilities would be located several hundred feet from existing housing.

After a deferral, Sioux City’s city council will vote on Sep. 9 whether or not to approve the third reading of a rezoning ordinance.

Residents are encouraged by the City of Sioux City to come to Wednesday’s meeting and ask questions.
