LARCHWOOD, Iowa (KCAU) — Next week, residents in Lyon County, Iowa will head to the polls for a special election.

Voters will decide whether or not to continue the West Lyon Community School District’s physical plant and equipment levy. The current levy expires in June 2025. The property tax would not exceed 67 cents per $1,000 of the assessed valuation of property within the school district. The money is approved every 10 years.

School district officials say if the levy is continued, the funds would help buy new school buses and keep building repairs and replacements ongoing, along with technology and security equipment.

Voting will take place at the city hall in Larchwood, Iowa.
