    Former Sioux City bike shop owner dies at 100

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A Sioux City man and “local legend” who owned a downtown bike shop has died at the age of 100.

    On Thursday, the Albrecht Cycle Shop announced on its Facebook page that Otto “Bud” Albrecht has passed away. He owned and operated the store for decades before turning it over to a new generation.

    “Thanks for everything, Bud—you touched so many peoples lives over the years and will always be remembered as a local legend!” the shop’s post reads.

    Albrecht recently celebrated his 100th birthday back in June . The business was started by Bud’s father back in 1924, the same year Bud was born. The shop has been home solely to pedal bikes since 1965.

    According to his obituary on the Christy-Smith Funeral Homes Crematory and Monuments website , Albrecht died Wednesday.

    A funeral service for Albrect will take place Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes’ Morningside Chapel with visitation one hour prior.
