    Dakota among counties to get federal funding for flood, storm recovery

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KCAU) — The state of Nebraska has officially received federal aid for severe weather, including flooding, that impacted 16 counties this summer.

    Gov. Jim Pillen announced the receipt of federal funding Wednesday. In addition to Dakota County, the counties eligible for funding are include Boyd, Clay, Dawson, Douglas, Fillmore, Holt, Howard, Lincoln, McPherson, Nance, Nemaha, Saunders, Scotts Bluff, Thomas, and Washington Counties.

    The eligible counties suffered severe damage from flooding, tornadoes and more from June 20 through July 8, according to a release.

    This is the fourth time this year that the state has gotten funds to help with the aftermaths of severe weather. More funding could also be available at a later date depending on further damage assessments.
