IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Iowa Hawkeyes have hit the bye week, taking time to regroup and reflect after its first four weeks of the season that saw many high points as well as some low points.

Iowa comes into the bye week with a 3-1 record, its lone loss coming on a last second field goal in the Cy-Hawk game. After four weeks, it’s easy to point out the staggering difference in offense from a year ago. Iowa is averaging 32 points per game this year, compared to just over 21 in 2023.

But, what has made the biggest difference is the consistency on defense. he Hawkeyes have allowed fewer than two touchdowns per game. Iowa putting an emphasis on holding its high standard while finding ways to grow.

“It’s a great time for us to, you know, reevaluate, look at some situations. Obviously rest just trying to look back at where we’re at. You know, we’re three and one last year at this time, we were three and one. The good news is that we’re 1-0 the Big Ten instead of 0-1.” Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker said.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Saturday, October 5th at Ohio State. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
