2024 Clay County Fair sees record spending numbers

SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — Guests at this year’s Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa pulled out their wallets in record fashion.

According to fair CEO Jerome Hertel , spending on food, beverages, and carnival rides topped $3.3 million, setting a new record.

Nearly 100,000 fairgoers came through the historic gates over the first two days of the fair, beating last year’ s numbers. However, overall attendance was down.

The fair continues to rank as the largest farm machinery and agriculture equipment show at any fair in the United States.

The 2024 Clay County Fair went from Sept. 7 to Sept. 15.
