    New dinosaur fossil display coming to Sioux City Public Museum in 2025

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — There will be a new dinosaur display coming to the Sioux City Public Museum in 2025!

    According to a press release, Darren Maurer and Brian Buckmeier will be displaying more than 25 years of dinosaur fossil finds they have collected.

    The dinosaur fossil exhibit will open at the Sioux City Public Museum on Feb 1, 2025.

    One of the exhibits will feature the new species of dinosaur, Dracorex, that Brian discovered in 2003. Other dinosaurs that will be on display are the T-Rex, Edmontosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Triceratops, and more.

    Darren Maurer is a nationally known artist/illustrator and adventure seeker. Maurer gained wide recognition for his work with Ducks Unlimited, where he won a record six times and was Iowa Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year Twice. He lives in Sioux City with his wife, ShLoe, and has two daughters.

    Brian Buckmeier has been a private practice attorney for 37 years and a part-time magistrate judge for the past six years. Buckmeier hunts for fossils in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana primarily and has provided many finds of Hell Creek dinosaurs with his most significant find being a new species of dinosaur he found in 2003. He lives in Sioux City with his wife, Frances, and has two sons.
