Cherokee Regional Medical Center aqcuires MercyOne Sutherland Family Medicine

SIOUX CITY, Iowa ( KCAU ) — Cherokee Regional Medical Center has announced that they have acquired MercyOne Sutherland Family Medicine in Sutherland, Iowa.

According to a release, the change went into effect on October 5. With this change, Cherokee Regional also announced the Brooke Fiddelke, ARNP has joined the Cherokee Regional staff and will continue to see patients at the new Sutherland Medical Clinic.

Former MercyOne clinic patients are invited to transfer their care to the new medical clinic.

There will be a town hall event on Thursday, October 17, for anyone who would like more information. The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the R.L. Johannsen Center in Sutherland.

“Moving into Sutherland has been something in our strategic plan for a while,” President and CEO of Cherokee Regional Medical Center Gary Jordan said. “We have had a great relationship with their EMS/ambulance service. When the opportunity arose to acquire the clinic, we jumped on it. We are happy that we are able to bring our mission of providing seamless, quality healthcare to the Sutherland Community.”

The Sutherland Medical Clinic, provided by Cherokee Regional, officially opened on Monday. The release states that it will join the Cherokee Medical Clinic, Holstein Medical Clinic, Aurelia Medical Clinic, and the Marcus Medical Clinic as Cherokee Regional’s fifth rural healthcare clinic.

Office hours will vary due to timing of insurance and provider contracts during the transition period.
