SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) — The Nebraska Games and Parks Commission has begun their annual fall stocking of rainbow trout fish.

Officials have released around 2,500 trouts into Crystal Cove Park’s lake in South Sioux City. This gives residents plenty of time to fish during the fall and winter seasons.

The commission is expected to release trout all over the state until December. That will happen to areas that could not support the trout throughout the summer.

“We really look forward to the stocking every year,” Rick Ashmore with the Siouxland Fly Club said. “We’ll catch these fish all the way through the fall, and then even through the ice, we’ll ice fish for them and then we’ll catch them again in the spring before they have to be replenished.”

Officials say they expect the rainbow trout to last throughout the winter into the next spring.
