    WATCH: The Funeral of Sen. Tim Johnson

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — KELOLAND News provided live coverage Sen. Tim Johnson’s funeral Friday morning from Our Savior’s Lutheran in Sioux Falls.

    Johnson was 77 when he died on Oct. 8. The longtime lawmaker served in the House and Senate in Washington, D.C. from 1987 to 2015. Johnson served in the state House and Senate from 1979-1987.

    Scheduled speakers include Johnson’s sons Brooks and Brendan. Remarks from former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle and former U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin are also expected. Ira Taken Alive, a former staff member and member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, is scheduled to share a Lakota prayer.

    The service will be conducted by Rev. Lori Hope of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Johnson’s home church in Sioux Falls. She will be assisted by Rev. Sawyer Vanden Heuvel, also of St. Mark’s and Rev. Tim Lemme of Our Savior’s.
