    Sioux City PD: Suspect in custody; Greenville ‘shelter in place’ lifted

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — UPDATE (Sunday 11:14 p.m.): Greenville residents no longer need to shelter in place Sunday night.

    Sgt. Thomas Gill with the Sioux City PD told KCAU 9 that the suspect is in custody and being taken to the hospital.

    There is no longer a danger to the public in the the Greenville neighborhood.

    Police said that the suspect was found in a residence on the 2500 block of 1st Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night.

    As the incident has recently resolved, police are uncertain if there were any occupants in the building at the time, but believe no one was home.

    After being taken into custody, the suspect was taken to a hospital for a wound. Police couldn’t say yet as to the severity or cause of the wound.


    PREVIOUS: The Sioux City police are asking residents of the Greenville neighborhood to shelter in place late Sunday night.

    The Sioux City police are searching for a man they say is armed with handgun who fired shots in the Greenville area. As such, residents are asked to lock their doors and windows.

    Police received a report of a gun being pulled on a person at the 2600 block of Correctionville Road.

    When police arrived on the scene they found and approached the suspect who then ran from officials and fired the hand gun.

    The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot, 5-inches tall with a shaved head with tattoos on his neck and head. He was last seen wearing blue jeans.

    Drones are being used to search for the suspect alongside Woodbury County Sheriff’s Deputies.

    No injuries have been reported at this time.

    Anyone who knows anything about the incident is asked to call 911 immediately.
