Buena Vista Beavers football determined to bounce back in 2024

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KCAU) – The Beavers of Buena Vista are primed for a rebound after its 2-8 season, but have plenty of aspirations entering its second season under head coach Austin Dickinson.

The Beavers return 40 players from 2023, including key pieces on offense and three of the team’s top four tacklers. BVU will look to lean on running back Eman Alaniz yet again this year. The Beavers’ lone all-conference pick earned an All-ARC Second Team nod after putting up over 1,000 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns for Buena Vista.

Even with a record that did not reflect where Buena Vista wanted to be, the Beavers learned plenty to help construct a better 2024.

“Our record wasn’t what we wanted it to be, but the guys who came back had a great offseason. Really excited about the guys we’ve brought in as well. We’re looking to get off with a bang Week 1 and carry that over into conference play.” Dickinson said.

“Getting another year of experience is one thing, but learning from the mistakes. Nevertheless, we had a lot of positive things last year. Especially learning from mistakes last year, that helps us build on each other, ourselves, and gives us a building block for this year.” Alaniz added.

“Right now, I am, personally, happy to be back with all my brothers here. It’s the best thing I can look forward to and I’m ready to get back onto the field and show people that we are a completely different team than last year and we’re going to go out there and show them.” Buena Vista defensive lineman Keaton Bindel highlighted.

BVU opens the year at home against Benedictine University on September 7th at 1 p.m.
