We have arrived at the doorstep of the weekend and we finish off another cool start to the day Most morning lows were in the 40s and 50s while some warmer urban areas were closer to 60. We will start to see temperatures move higher over the next few days though humidity will be much slower to rise. High pressure is overhead and moving offshore today. We will see mostly sunny skies. Most high temperatures today will be in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. There are no issues regarding showers as the radars are going to be nice and quiet today and probably through most of the weekend.

Following localized severe weather over portions of the Rockies on Tuesday, AccuWeather meteorologists say the main threat of severe thunderstorms will shift eastward across the Great Plains at midweek and then to more of the Midwest Thursday.

The weekend which is the last weekend before the Labor Day holiday weekend (which is next weekend) is a reminder that summer is winding down so we should take advantage of the nice weather while we have it. This past week has been one of low humidity and cool temperatures. We will be slowly losing both of those this weekend but it will still be rather nice. Today is a day of lots of sunshine and high temperatures will reach into the lower 80s in most locations. Humidity levels are reasonable and should remain so today with dew points in the mid to upper 50s. No rain is forecast anywhere and radars are in silent mode.

(AP) — An unusually cold weather system from the Gulf of Alaska interrupted summer along the West Coast on Saturday, bringing snow to Washington state’s Mount Rainier and a lookout point of California’s Sierra Nevada. Photos posted by the National Weather Service and local authorities showed a white-covered peak from Rainier and a dusting of snow at Minaret Vista, a lookout point southeast of Yosemite National Park in California’s Sierra Nevada.  Madera County Deputy Sheriff Larry Rich said it was “definitely unexpected” to see snow at Minaret Vista in August. “It’s not every day you get to spend your birthday surrounded by a winter wonderland in the middle of summer,” he said in a statement. “It made for a day I won’t soon forget, and a unique reminder of why I love serving in this area. It’s just one of those moments that makes working up here so special.”

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue in Massachusetts, is still looking for a forever home for an adorable six-year-old French bulldog named Joannie. The local animal rescue explains: “Joannie was found as a stray extremely emaciated and less than half her current weight now. She was missing fur on her body, face and ears. She has been nursed back to health and is doing wonderfully. While her age and exact history is unknown, it is clear she has mothered more than enough litters in her short lifetime.”

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue organization in Massachusetts, has recently introduced a dog named Blazer who is looking for his forever home. According to the nonprofit rescue organization, Blazer has had quite a journey. “Blazer was one of 7 dogs ‘saved’ by another rescue down in Texas and when he was just a young puppy. Then, he was abandoned by this ‘rescue’ and left in a boarding kennel for 9 months. He is now a little over a year old, and 55lbs.” Thanks to Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. for stepping in to help Blazer, he is now on the path to finding a family to love him.
