DALLAS (KDAF) — For over 25 years, Cars for Kids has been a beacon of hope for young people in the Dallas Fort Worth area and across Texas. With a mission to provide local kids with the opportunity to build a better future, this remarkable organization has helped students who strive to earn their high school diplomas and achieve their dreams.

If you have a vehicle that’s been collecting dust in your garage, Cars for Kids offers a generous way to give it a new purpose. By donating your old car, you contribute to an auto auction that raises funds to support students at the Texans Can Academies , an accelerated program dedicated to helping students overcome obstacles and earn their diplomas in just two years.

“We do things like allow kids to get certifications with their high school diploma to add that extra level of employability and confidence to our students leaving,” Board Chair of Cars for Kids Rudy Oeftering said.

The Texans Can Academies are designed to help students who face significant challenges. By compressing a traditional four-year program into just two years, they create an individual graduation plan tailored to each student’s needs.

“We banish the years of failure and rejection and then we unlock the power to dream again,” Superintendent of Schools at Texans Can Academies Dr. James Ponce said. “The future is very bright after that.”

The collaboration with Cars for Kids plays a crucial role in making this vision a reality, ensuring students are prepared for career, college, and military readiness.

Joselyn Michelle Leal, a proud graduate of Texans Can Academies, shared her experience: “Texans Can Academies has helped me achieve my goals faster and has given me the opportunity to graduate in two years.”

“[Texans Can Academies] prepared me in a bunch of ways [like] my communication and also the way I interact with other students and adults,” Princess Gonzales, another graduate, added. “It also helped me with things I wanted to do in life, like music.”

In a remarkable show of generosity, Cars for Kids recently raised $850,000, which will be donated to Texans Can Academy to further support their mission. This contribution will help even more students achieve their goals and become productive members of the community.

You can be a part of this transformative journey. By donating your old car, you are not just clearing out your garage – you are giving a student the chance to build a better future. To learn more about how you can contribute, visit carsforkids.org .
