( KTLA ) – Actress Danielle Fishel has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Fishel, famous for her role as Topanga Lawrence in the ’90s-’00s hit sitcom “Boy Meets World,” revealed the diagnosis on the latest episode of her podcast “ Pod Meets World ,” released early Monday morning.

The 43-year-old said she was diagnosed with DCIS, which is known as ductal carcinoma in situ, a form of breast cancer.

“They found it so, so, so early that I’m going to be fine,” she said. “So, I want to share this because I hope that it will encourage anyone to get in there. If it’s time for your appointment, if you’ve never had an appointment before, get in there. If you have to find out that you have cancer, find out when it’s at stage 0, if possible.”

Legendary daytime talk show host Phil Donahue dies at 88

Fishel hosts “Pod Meets World” with her “Boy Meets World” costars Will Friedle and Rider Strong. The two were the first people she told outside of her family.

“We love you, and you know that we’ve got you. Whatever you need, we’re here,” said Friedle. “You are going to be fine, and you might have some sucky days coming up, but we’re here for you.”

DCIS is breast cancer at the earliest stage, according to Breastcancer.org .

“DCIS forms and is contained to your milk ducts (tubes that carry milk to the nipple) only,” the site stated. “It hasn’t spread beyond the milk ducts into other parts of your breast (in situ means in its original place).”

The site says that DCIS is not life-threatening but if diagnosed, a person has “a higher risk of developing invasive breast cancer later in life.”
