Pittsburgh film office says film industry left out of state budget

The Pittsburgh Film Office says the state's film industry was left out of increases in spending in Pennsylvania's new budget.

Despite industry efforts statewide, an increase to the film tax credit is absent, calling PA's competitiveness for film work and production into question.

Since 2015 alone, film projects utilizing the tax credit have spent $895 million in PA.

The Pittsburgh Film Office will continue to advocate for an increase in the state's current $100 million film tax credit and so PA does not fall further behind other states that have uncapped or raised their incentives.

“We’re extremely grateful to have the film tax credit program funded at $100 million, but disappointed that the state did not increase the amount of tax credits available,” said Dawn Keezer, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Film Office. “We still have work to do and we’re not giving up. We will continue to remain focused on increasing the tax credit to ensure that Pennsylvania remains a vital part of the film industry.”
