Tropical Storm Debby has dumped several inches of rain in the southwest United States as it continues to make its way up the coast.

By the time Friday comes, the Pittsburgh area could be feeling some of the effects of the storm coming through.

Depending on the track of the storm, an inch or more of rain could make for a very wet Friday in our area.

The Western edge of the storm is expected to come through late Thursday through Friday.

AccuWeather tells KDKA Radio the Pittsburgh area could see a half inch to an inch and a half of rain fall.

The Laurel Highlands could get between 2 to 4 inches and central PA could see 4-plus.

With heavy rain falling earlier this week, AccuWeather says there could be some flooding issues in vulnerable areas around southwestern PA.

As of Wednesday, the storm will hit the Carolinas and then make its way north soaking parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

If the storm moves to the east, the Pittsburgh are will have less rain. To the west, a couple inches of rain could fall.

The good news, the rain from Debby will move through by Friday afternoon.

That means no rain and cooler temps for the Steelers first preseason game at Acrisure Stadium.
