In a move that has drawn some raised eyebrows and concern from some veterinarians and animal lovers, Dolce & Gabbana has launched a new perfume meant for dogs.

“Fefé” is alcohol-free, the company said in a release, adding that the creation of the perfume followed Safe Pet Cosmetics protocols and has been certified safe to use with animals.

“Through a compliance recognition to this protocol granted by Bureau Veritas Italia, participating companies demonstrate their sensitivity in creating products that ensure the safety and respect of the animal, in accordance with established standards,” the release reads.

However, while the perfume follows safety regulations, some vets caution it still may not be the best idea to use it on your dog.

“Dogs recognize themselves by smells. They recognize a person by a smell,” Dr. Federico Coccía, a Rome veterinarian, told CBS News. “When the dog arrives, he sees you, wags his tail, but first smells you and then recognizes you because you are stored in one of his ‘smell drawers.’ Therefore, this world of smells should not be changed.”

If you want to spritz your own pup with Fefé, a 3.4 oz. bottle will set you back about $108.
