Wawa moving into Sheetz territory in West Virginia

It’s become one of the top battles in Pennsylvania, are you team Sheetz or team Wawa?

Altoona based Sheetz just opened its newest location in Coraopolis on Thursday adding to its over 740 locations in PA, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina and West Virginia.

And, West Virginia is where the next battle in the convenience stores’ rivalry will take place.

Wawa announced on social media earlier this week that they’ve broken ground for a new store in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle.

The store is being built in Inwood, a town that already has a Sheetz.

Inwood is a little over 3 hours away from Pittsburgh.

While there is a rivalry between the Altoona-based Sheetz and the greater Philadelphia-based Wawa, the two stores haven’t competed in the same area.

Wawa is also reportedly planning a store in the State College area, which is also currently Sheetz country.

It looks like a real rivalry is brewing as Wawa plans opening locations in areas where Sheetz is already established.
