    KDKA Radio 2024 Super 7 Preseason Players to Watch

    Welcome to the 2024 high school football season, with extensive coverage on the WPIAL’s flagship radio station, 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA.

    This season, we will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous Friday night. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.

    To start, we highlight three players to watch from each classification.

    CLASS 6A

    Xxavier Thomas, Central Catholic - Penn State commit who pulled down four interceptions last year.

    Jayden Price, Seneca Valley - Tall defensive back committed to Toledo.

    Tristyn Tavares, Norwin - As a sophomore, passed for nearly 2,500 yards and accounted for 31 total touchdowns.

    CLASS 5A

    Alex Tatsch, Latrobe - 4-star linebacker who is committed to Penn State.

    Mickey Vaccarello, Peters Township - Stanford bound outside linebacker who led the Indians to a WPIAL title last year.

    Clancy Orie, Bethel Park - All-state defensive end committed to Navy.

    CLASS 4A

    Tikey Hayes, Aliquippa - Penn State commit who has rushed for 5,886 yards and won three WPIAL titles.

    Shep Turk, Thomas Jefferson - 3-star offensive lineman committed to Pitt.

    Brock Cornell, West Allegheny - Versatile two-way playmaker committed to Bucknell.

    CLASS 3A

    Dayshaun, Burnett, Imani Christian - 4-star linebacker prospect committed to Penn State.

    Brady O’Hara, North Catholic - Massive tight end recruit who is Penn State bound.

    Jance Henry Jr, Central Valley - Rushed for over 1,000 yards as a freshman with numerous Power 5 offers already.

    CLASS 2A

    Donald Barksdale, Steel Valley - Reigning Class 2A Super 7 Player of the Year who racked up 2,061 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2023.

    Jaivin Peel, Western Beaver - Broke WPIAL freshman passing record with 2,889 yards and 33 touchdowns.

    Khalil Taylor, Seton LaSalle - Only a sophomore, the wide receiver has picked up numerous Power 5 offers.

    CLASS 1A

    Matt Sieg, Fort Cherry - 4-star athlete who has accounted for the most yards by any player through two years in WPIAL history.

    Quadir Stribling, Serra Catholic - Passed for nearly 2,5000 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior last year.

    Kole Olszewski, Bishop Canevin - Racked up 1,680 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in 2023.

    CITY LEAGUE

    Xair Stevenson, University Prep - All-City League defensive back with handful of Division I offers.

    Kyshawn Robinson, Westinghouse - Electric 4-star defensive back with numerous Power 5 offers.

    Josiah Collins, Westinghouse - Defensive end prospect with multiple Division I offers.
