A Moon Township man is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a church in Carnegie.

Paul, 73-year-old William Reed, who was treasurer at the St. John Lutheran Church in Carnegie, is facing multiple charges this morning.

Over the years, church board members would notice small accounting issues, but Reed would always assure them everything was in good financial order.

At times, the board would request documentation, but they say Reed would refuse to turn anything over.

A total of $225,000 went missing.

Eventually, Reed sent emails to board members, admitting that he stole and misappropriated church funds.

Reed was arrested and is now facing multiple charges in connection with the crime.

He has a preliminary hearing next week.
