You may be pleasantly surprised the next time you fill up at a gas station.

AAA says the average price of unleaded self-serve regular in the region is $2.62.

That's down eight cents from its last survey.

Spokesperson Tiffany Stanley said, “and its down about 22 cents lower from a year ago, so we are seeing a lot lower prices.”

Stanley says the low price of crude oil is the main reason for lower prices at gas stations. The price of crude accounts for over half of the price at the pump.

Expect prices to continue to trend lower as crude oil prices remain around 74 dollars a barrel, and summer gas blends are phased out.

GasBuddy says gas is as low as $3.19 in areas of Washington County, Rostraver and Monongahela.

In the Pittsburgh area, Sheetz at 4875 University Boulevard in Moon has gas at $3.29 a gallon.

Triple A says the national average is $3.31, the average in Pennsylvania is $3.46.
