Pittsburgh Public School Carmalt evacauted after masked individual was found inside

A Pittsburgh Public School was evacuated Thursday afternoon, after a masked individual was found inside the building.

Officials said the masked man wore all black. Two faculty members spotted him inside a gender neutral bathroom and in the gymnasium. The principal called Pittsburgh police to assist with finding the man, but after arriving, they were unable to find him. Police said he didn't appear to be armed.

The school was placed on lockdown. After police searched using video cameras and going room to room in the school, the evacuated the building. Parents were able to pickup their children at the Brookline Recreational Center.

Pittsburgh Public Schools released the following statement on Thursday:

"School will be in session tomorrow, operating in secure mode. This means no one will be allowed in or out of the facility without a prescheduled appointment. City Police will assist School Police to ensure secure entry for students and staff. Additional School Safety support will be on-site throughout the day."
