An incarcerated woman being held at the Allegheny County Jail died over the weekend and the County Executive wants to why?

The 53-year-old woman was brought into the county jail on a felony possession charge on Friday.

Then on Saturday morning, she suffered what's being described as a "medical emergency."

Staffers tried to save her life, but she was pronounced dead by emergency responders a short time later.

County Executive Sara Innamorato released a statement over the weekend offering her condolences to the friends and family of the deceased and states there will be a thorough investigation of what happened.

    Here statement reads, in full:

“I want to offer my condolences to the friends and family of the woman who passed away at the Allegheny County Jail this morning. While the Allegheny County Jail has made strides to improve intake procedures and medical care, there is still more work to do.
The county will conduct an investigation of the incident, and we will continue to seek improvements so incarcerated individuals, who are often medically vulnerable and suffering from multiple comorbidities, receive the highest level of care possible.”

More people die there than reported. Even when people plead explaining they have serious heart conditions & need prescribed Medications they take on a regular basis.I remember when 2 Women on 50-60 yrs of age the other in her 20’s begged Guards over an intercom from their Cell over & over saying they were horribly ill. Only to be ignored & were found dead the next day. This was written in the Newspaper possibly 10- 15 years ago. I certainly hope this wasn’t due to neglect of the Allegheny Prison system.
