    Giant 'super load' slowing traffic on several Western PA roads

    What is being called a “slow-moving super load” is moving through southwestern Pennsylvania Tuesday.

    PennDOT says the super load is traveling from Columbiana, Ohio to Allegheny County and is traveling through parts of Mercer, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson and Westmoreland Counties.

    The load is 136 feet long, almost 28 feet wide and weighs 150 tons.

    The load will be traveling at a max speed of 30 miles per hour and will also be moving slower at times.

    It will also be taking up two lanes of traffic.

    PennDOT provided the following details on the load’s route:

    The load will travel on Interstate 80 East through Mercer, Butler, and Clarion counties to Exit 78 in Jefferson County. It will continue through Jefferson County on Routes 36 South, 436 South, and 119 South into Indiana County where it will take Route 22 West through Westmoreland County and into Allegheny County. Once in Allegheny County, it will travel Routes 2048 South/William Penn Highway West, 48 South, 130 West, and 2037/Tri-Boro Expressway West onto Route 2083/Braddock Avenue South.

    It’s a cargo is a giant steel cone that will delivered to the U.S. Steel Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock.

    Southern Pines Trucking, Inc. of Aliquippa is handling transportation of the cone.
