Week 7 of the high school football season brought some of the most eye-popping statistical performances we’ve seen this season, including a quarterback who put up massive numbers both with his arm and with his legs.

This season, KDKA Radio will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous Friday night. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.

Here are the top performances from Week 7:

    Kymon’e Brown, Jeannette

In one of the week’s most dramatic games, Brown put on a show in a wild comeback.

The junior rallied the Jayhawks back from down 41-27 in the fourth quarter, helping the Jayhawks beat Brentwood 42-41.

Brown completed 21 of 32 passes, racking up 343 yards and four touchdowns.

The win was important for Jeannette, which picked up its second conference win.

    Nico Mauro, Trinity

Mauro exploded Friday, as the Hillers ran away with a win in the Big Six Conference.

The bruising senior back rushed for 353 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Chartiers Valley.

His 353 yards were the most among all WPIAL players in Week 7 and was among the best showings in the district this season.

Trinity moved to 3-5 on the year and 2-1 in the conference.

    Julius Green, North Hills

One of the nice stories of the season so far has been at North Hills, where the Indians are putting together one of their best seasons in years.

On Friday, Green and company kept the good times rolling.

The senior rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns in the game, as North Hills beat rival Shaler, 28-10.

The Indians are now 7-1 on the year, with only a narrow loss to Pine-Richland as a lone blemish. They face a strong Penn Hills team Friday.

    Codi Mullen, Knoch

On Friday, Mullen orchestrated one of the most impressive individual showings we have seen in years.

The dual threat quarterback passed for 249 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 246 more yards in a 38-14 win over Hampton.

Mullen also intercepted two passes on defense, punted and returned punts in the win.

The Knights moved to 3-4 on the year and 2-1 in the Greater Allegheny Conference.

The 2024 high school football season continues Friday, as KDKA Radio will bring you broadcast coverage of Pine-Richland at North Allegheny.
