The grieving brother of a missing Armstrong County man found dead over the weekend endured more than two weeks of waiting.

“It’s like a nightmare, it (doesn’t) go away” said Mark Kimberly, the brother of 56-year-old victim David Kimberly while talking with Marty Griffin on KDKA Radio Monday morning.

David Kimberly left his Plumcreek Township home on September 23 and was reported missing five days later.

David was found shot to death in Jefferson County this weekend.

“When it broke on the news yesterday, I was on the way to see my mom and I had to call her and tell her to turn off the TV and radio,” Mark said while fighting back tears.

Kimberly's van was found in a wooded area in Armstrong County. His body was taken to a remote area in Jefferson County.

Kittanning's Criminal Investigations Unit took over the investigation.

State Police say 33-year-old Cody Weiland has confessed and is facing first degree murder and other charges.

Mark said an initial lack of interest from law enforcement in his brother's whereabouts was "unbelievable."

Police told him his brother was likely partying in Mexico.

“I kept telling them ‘something is wrong’ . . . it was out of character and there was just no interest.”
