Man hiding from police falls through ceiling, arrested

The Allegheny County Sheriff's office says a man wanted on a bench warrant had to be treated Wednesday for some minor scrapes after he fell through a ceiling where he had been hiding when they arrived to arrest him.

Detectives say 45-year-old David Smith, formerly of McKees Rocks, but now living in Delaware, has been wanted since August of last year for a probation violation.

He was allegedly hiding in the attic of a home on Sorento Street in the North Side when officers arrived.

As they heard him moving above, he crashed through the ceiling and was taken into custody.
