Michigan man, woman struck by alleged intoxicated driver suffer lifelong injuries
WESTLAND, MI – A man and a woman were unloading their vehicle when they were struck by an alleged drunken driver, resulting in lifelong injuries, officials said. The 31-year-old woman and 32-year-old man, both of Westland, were hit around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the area of Wildwood and Florence in Westland, according to a news release from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. April Marie Graves, 43, of Westland, is accused of driving while intoxicated, resulting in the crash.

Genesee District Library in Linden to close in early 2025 for renovations

Dr. Devon Hoover murder suspect to undergo competency hearing
DETROIT (FOX 2) - The man accused of killing well-known Detroit neurosurgeon Devon Hoover was referred for a competency hearing Thursday. Desmond Burks, 34, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder, larceny over $20,000, felon in possession of a firearm, and three counts of felony firearm for the April 2023 murder of Hoover at his Boston Edison home.

DETROIT – Officials provided an update on the case of a missing 13-year-old girl who was last seen seven months ago getting off a school bus in Detroit. Police said Na’Ziyah Harris, a 13-year-old student at J. E. Clark Preparatory Academy in Detroit, was last seen Jan. 9, 2024.
New Detroit signs coming to a neighborhood near you
New welcome signs are coming to 60 neighborhoods across Detroit through a federally funded program. Block club organizations registered with the Department of Neighborhoods applied last fall to receive customizable signs that are unique to each community.
