Vail Resorts Honors Colorado River Day With $1 Million Gift to The Nature Conservancy
Yesterday, Vail Resorts, Inc. pledged $1 million to The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. The support will span four years and is largely committed to restoring the Colorado River, which starts as snowmelt north of Grand Lake, Colorado, and flows more than 1,400 miles, providing water for 40 million people. The flow of this critical resource has declined nearly 20% since 2000, with half of that decline attributed to temperature increase due to climate change. With support from Vail Resorts, TNC will focus on balancing water needs, upgrading traditional and natural water infrastructure, and working with Tribal Nations to create a more sustainable Colorado River Basin.

Tire Disposal Event In Greeley Next Month
If you live in Weld County, next month the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment is inviting you to a tire disposal event. The tire disposal event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Household Hazardous Waste Center, 1311 N. 17th Av., Greeley, reports the Greeley Tribune. The pilot program event, previously limited to residents of unincorporated Weld County, will help reduce waste and the environmental impact of improperly disposed tires. At the disposal event, Household Hazardous Waste staff will accept off-rim tires. Participants can turn in up to four passenger car tires or light truck tires.
