Minn. man pleads guilty in armed robbery case
BARRON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A Minnesota man pleaded guilty Friday in the armed robbery and assault of an elderly man in Barron in December. Court documents show that on July 19, 33-year-old Ryan Charpentier of Little Canada, Minn., pleaded guilty to armed robbery as party to a crime with an increased penalty for an elder person victim. Charpentier was charged as one of two suspects in the armed robbery and assault of an elderly man in Barron, Wis., on Dec. 19, 2023.

Dump truck fire at Minntac early Monday morning
U.S. Steel confirmed a fire on one of their dump trucks at Minntac in Mt. Iron. This was early Monday morning, in a remote section of the mine. The company said the driver followed all the procedures and was able to get out of the truck safely. No one was injured.

VIRGINIA—The Virginia Police Department is asking the public to be aware of counterfeit/fake $100 bills that were circulated at businesses around the Virginia area recently. These bills have “Motion Picture Purposes” on the back and have serial number PM 257821811 K3 on the front, according to the VPD. “We are working with the effected businesses attempting to identify a suspect, said Police Chief Nicole Mattson. “We urge everyone to closely examine all $100 bills. If you come across a fake bill, please report it to your local police department.’’
17th Annual Reggae and World Music Festival Takes Place in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park was full of dancing, culture, and connecting on Saturday. It was all part of the 17th Annual Reggae and World Music Festival.
