KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) - Honolulu Police are searching for a man who escaped from the Kapolei substation Sunday morning. Police arrested 31-year-old David Montoya for a TRO violation and outstanding warrants at 9:45 a.m. on Kaunolu Street in Ewa Beach. He was taken to the police station for booking when he escaped.

UH to study Lahaina wildfire response and impact on residents
The government’s response to the 2023 Lahaina, Maui wildfire and its impact on Lahaina residents is the focus of a $3.8 million study by a team of University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa researchers. The August 2023 wildfire, the deadliest in U.S. history, killed 102 people and displaced an estimated 14,000 residents in a community already struggling with healthcare provider shortages, with many residents on Medicaid and reliant on other social services.

Light windward and mauka showers will primarily occur during overnight through early morning hours each day. One dead, two injured in car crash on Kaukonohua Road
WAIALUA, Hawaii (Island News) - Kaukonohua Road is closed from Kaamooloa Road to Kiekonea Way due to a two-car crash that has left one person dead.
