Where universities once occupied public imagination as finishing schools for a storied elite, fora of higher education have, over time, been treated by reactionary members of political and civil society as threats to national stability fueled by ignorance and immaturity. But what happens on campus doesn’t stay on campus: The forms of punishment and surveillance developed on college campuses in reaction to this perceived threat have spilled into the ways police and governments clamp down on other movements. This is by design, according to Dr. Marc Arsell Robinson, author of Washington State Rising: Black Power on Campus in the Pacific Northwest.
$42 million tort claim accuses Washington AGO, WSU of racketeering

Okanogan County Authorities Seek Witnesses to Bridgeport Area Felony Hit-and-Run Collision
Authorities in Okanogan County are urgently seeking information after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision early last Sunday. The victim was walking on State Route 17 near milepost 138, not far from Bridgeport, when he was struck by a vehicle, or possibly multiple vehicles, that failed to remain at the scene. The Washington State Patrol reported the collision occurred between 3:00 and 3:00 AM. Investigators are combing the area for evidence and have asked for the public's assistance in identifying the driver or drivers involved.
