While many Americans are cementing their plans for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, mountain peaks across the northwest are sporting a fresh coat of white.

Timberline Lodge, located on Mt. Hood, Oregon, reported a whopping seven inches of fresh snow had fallen by Sunday, June 16th, 2024. Check out photos captured on the resort's webcams below.

Timberline Lodge is the only ski resort still open for lift-served sliding in North America after Arapahoe Basin ended their season yesterday, June 16th, 2024.

The storm continued to push east and left its mark at Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho. Silver shared the photo below on Saturday, June 15th of Kellogg Peak covered in an unseasonable layer of snow.

Unfortunately, the snow caused problems for the North American Enduro Cup (NAEC) races taking place at Silver Mountain this past weekend.

Multiple stages were either cancelled or altered on both Saturday and Sunday, but a little bit of snow and rain wasn't going to keep a rowdy group of mountain bikers from competing.

Former POWDER Gear Editor and current Editor of BIKE Magazine Cy Whitling was on hand at NAEC, and described the competition organizers as "resilient" despite the challenging weather conditions.

The high peaks of Montana, Wyoming, and parts of Colorado could see upwards of a foot of fresh snow by mid-week as the storm moves east. Stay tuned in here at POWDER Magazine as we continue to track and cover the storm.

If you're planning on venturing out to score powder turns in June, please remember to use caution and carry your avalanche gear. Most importantly, have fun and stay safe out there, friends!
