Mt. Vernon, Milbank, Dell Rapids PBR advance

MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO) — Mt. Vernon, Milbank and Dell Rapids PBR moved onto the second round of the Class ‘B’ amateur state tournament with wins on Saturday.

Mt. Vernon defeated Salem 4-3. With the game tied at two, the Mustangs scored a run in the sixth and seventh to take the lead.

Milbank knocked off the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 5-2. The Firechiefs scored the first four run of the contest.

PBR topped Elkton 5-3. With the game tied at 3 in the eighth, Drew Sweeter knocked an RBI triple and came around to score on a Weston Hanson single. Riley Hoffman notched 11 strikeouts over eight innings of work on the mound.
