MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO) — The Platte Killer Tomatoes secured their first ever spot in the Class ‘B’ amateur baseball state championship game with a 4-0 win over Dimock-Emery at Cadwell Park Saturday.

Hunter Hewitt put the Tomatoes on the board with an RBI single in the first. The game remained 1-0 until the seventh when Platte scored three runs. Hewitt drove in another run. The other two runs scored on an error and a wild pitch.

Hewitt was one of two Killer Tomatoes with two hits, along with Michael Buitenbos.

Buitenbos went the distance, allowing just six hits and striking out four for the shutout.

Platte will play in the championship game Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cadwell Park.
