SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The high school football season begins this Friday and with the excitement of its return, KELOLAND Media Group is eager to bring the action to your TV screens.

Hundreds of high school games have livestreamed on KELOLAND.com over the past five years, but now KELOLAND Media Group is taking it one step further.

“When the sports department came to me about putting the games on XTRA, I just thought it was a great opportunity,” KELOLAND Vice President and General Manager Mari Ossenfort said.

KELOLAND Sports began with live coverage on KELOXTRA by broadcasting the class ‘A’ and ‘B’ state high school baseball championships in late May and early June.

“They did such a great job with baseball, that it seemed like an obvious next step to go to the football games and start broadcasting those,” Ossenfort said.

KELO Sports will broadcast up to 15 games this season, including one game each week and some playoff action. Eleven communities and 20 teams will be featured throughout the year.

“I love it that we’re reaching out to so many different communities in KELOLAND. We’ll have the opportunity to highlight those events, those opportunities and those experiences that the kids are getting,” Ossenfort said.

“Our communities come together with activities and we want to showcase those activities, highlight them and share with them the entire state,” Ossenfort said.
