SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Augustana football team held their media day Wednesday ahead of the upcoming season, with the Vikings sitting second in preseason conference poll.

The Vikings reached the Division II playoffs last year, but ultimately lost 27 lettermen from the team. Augustana would close out an 11-2 overall record, suffering just one conference loss.

As Augie prepares for the upcoming season with a much younger crew on offense, coach Jerry Olszewski says the plan is to prioritize each day of practice and work on consistency if they at least want to be a .500 team.

“We got five weeks in the season where there’s going to be some separation early in this thing, I believe, and on a week to week basis, they’re going to see some scores where it’s like ‘ hmm.’ Our goal is to be consistent, be hungry, and never settle. And if we can do that, we’ll be in the right side of the margin more than not,” Augustana head coach Jerry Olszewski said.

The Vikings open the season in Bismarck on September 5, where they’ll face U-Mary.
