MINNEAPOLIS (KELO) — Lars Nootbaar smacked a two-run single in the top of the ninth to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field Sunday afternoon.

Willi Castro blasted a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first to give the Twins the early lead. Then with the game tied at 1 in the eighth, Royce Lewis ripped an RBI double to left to give Minnesota the lead back.

Victor Scott II went 4-for-5 with a solo homer for St. Louis.

Rookie Zebby Matthews made his third career start and went five innings, allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

The Twins begin a three-game series with the Braves Monday with Bailey Ober on the mound against Max Fried.
