Local name scores touchdown for Vikings

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A local name made big waves on the football field Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the New York Giants.

Andrew Van Ginkel of Rock Valley, Iowa, returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Vikings’ 28-6 win. He picked off Daniel Jones’ screen pass and took it back 10 yards for the score.

Van Ginkel is responsible for the two fastest pass interceptions in the past two seasons. He intercepted the pass just 1.16 seconds after the snap. Last season, he intercepted a pass 1.26 seconds after the snap.

This season is his first with the Vikings.
