VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — USD had its game at Portland State this past weekend canceled because of an outbreak of whooping cough within the Vikings’ program. Now the Coyotes look to refocus for this week.

The Yotes traveled all the way to Oregon, only to have the game called off Saturday morning, mere hours before kickoff. Now that they will have an unplanned two weeks in between games, the players turn their focus to this week’s challenge in Drake and their first home game in more than three weeks.

“We’ve got a very matter of fact football team right now,” USD head coach Bob Nielson said. “They took the news about as well as I could have possibly expected them to take the news. They’re excited to get back on that field.”

USD kicks off against Drake Saturday at 1 p.m. at the DakotaDome.
