Augie, Northern State football uses internal focus

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Augustana football returns to KELOXTRA and KELOLAND dot com this weekend with an in-state matchup.

Augie is looking to bounce back from last week’s 24-3 loss to SDSU and they’ll look to do so against Northern State, who is off to an 0-3 start, following a narrow loss at Minot State.

The Vikings and Wolves both showed positive signs in their losses last week. Now, as the two teams prep for this week, they’re keeping the focus on themselves.

“Until we are our best, we’ve got no business worrying about how good somebody else is. That was last Saturday too. We didn’t play our best game and against a team like South Dakota State, you need to be your best. Until we hit that mark, we’ll be hungry for improvement,” Augustana head coach Jerry Olszewski said.

“We are going to continually get better as the season keeps going on. I think the hard part is that you don’t let your circumstances or your results effect the process,” Northern State head coach Mike Schmidt said.
