    Viking Soccer kennels Bulldogs Sunday afternoon

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Augustana) -– On “Pups in the Park” day, Augustana women’s soccer (4-3-1, 3-1) defeated Minnesota Duluth (1-5-1, 1-3-1) by a score of 2-0 Sunday afternoon on Morstad Field. Ally Hamski and Morgan Mancuso netted goals in the win.

    Aaliyah Matthews recorded her second clean sheet of the weekend after making two saves. She faced a total of four shots throughout 90 minutes of play.

    Madelyn White found the scoresheet in the second half with an assist on Mancuso’s second goal of the season.

    Augustana outshot the Bulldogs 13-4. The Vikings tallied four shots on goal from Hamski, Mancuso, Anabel Hillstrom and Makenzie Nelson .

    SHOT (AU) 2′ – Avery Heinz recorded the first shot of Sunday’s game after she missed just high of the top bar.

    SHOT (AU) 10′ – Sierra Barkus made noise in the 10 minute mark with a shot that was blocked by a Bulldog defender.

    GOAL (AU) 19′ – After a handball call was made on UMD’s Jessica Eischens, Augustana was awarded a penalty kick. Hamski took the shot for Augustana and found the back of the net to take an early lead.

    SHOT (AU) 28′ – Hillstrom made her appearance on the pitch after she was subbed in during the 24th minute. She made her presence known with a shot on goal.

    SHOT (AU) 39′ – Nelson got an oppourtunity in the 39th minute with a shot on goal toward the bottom left of the net but was saved.

    SHOT (UMD) 43′ – Matthews made a big save in the later minutes of the first half after Anna Tobias powered the ball towards the goal.

    SHOT (AU) 47′ – Heinz opened up the second half with a shot just wide of the net.

    SHOT (AU) 51′ – Sydney Hage continued Augustana’s offensive pressure with a shot just right of the bar.

    SHOT (UMD) 88′ – The Bulldogs amped up the offensive pressure in the final minutes of play as Savannah Gieseke pounded in the ball from outside the box but Matthews laid out for the save.

    GOAL (AU) 89′ – Mancuso sealed the deal for the Vikings after she headed in a cross from Madelyn White to push Augustana’s lead to 2-0.
