BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — The SDSU football team recently came off a bye week and now they gear up for their conference opener against #18 Northern Iowa.

The Jacks return to action on the road against the Panthers that hold an 11-9 all-time series record since SDSU joined the FCS.

SDSU has the 11th best defense in the FCS, that has not allowed a touchdown and allowed only a field goal in their last two battles.

The Jackrabbits also own the fifth best rushing defense, something that the Panthers run heavy offense will have to be aware of.

“All of our coaches are well aware of how good Northern Iowa is, and so is our football team as far as the majority of these guys have played them. It’s never been easy. And so we need to be locked into doing the small things right this week,” SDSU head coach Jimmy Rogers said.

Both teams will meet Saturday for a 4PM kick-off.
