SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Temperatures across KELOLAND today were feeling more like summer, minus the humidity. Southerly winds are helping to bring in the warm air and with breezier conditions to the west, there will be a concern for fire weather conditions.

Hazy skies are returning for many of us due to western wildfire smoke entering our region. This should have little impact at the surface and will try to diminish heading into tomorrow.

There is potential to see northern lights tonight across our area, but cloud cover may limit visibility. Lows will stay mild for this time of year and winds will begin to become northerly as a cold front passes through.

This cold front will pass through by tomorrow afternoon and precipitation is not expected. Winds will die down going into the evening once the front moves out and bring cooler, more seasonable temperatures for us on Friday. Tomorrow’s highs will mainly be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Our drought conditions continue to gradually worsen as our dry stretch of weather continues. Areas of severe drought has expanded in southern and southeastern KELOLAND.

The quiet weather will stick around during the next week with the cooler temperatures hanging around for the start of next week. Widespread frost may be a concern on Sunday and Monday as lows dip down into the low 30s. By the end of next week, we will begin to warm back up to above-average temperatures.
